Position Summary
To design, architect, and develop software and system solutions allowing for the administration of F5 Networks traffic management devices. Specifically, the position is responsible for enhancing and maintaining F5s web-based configuration application software. This software provides a common administration platform and user interface that simplifies administration, installation, and maintenance of F5 products.
Responsibilities
- Develop and architect software and system solutions for application delivery networking.
- Design and implement major components of assigned products
- Research, investigate and define new areas of technology to enhance existing products or new product directions
- Implement and maintain features/functionality for F5 products
- Document software designs via functional specifications and other design documents
- Perform in a senior and/or lead capacity on a project team(s) ;act in a lead capacity at code reviews
Qualifications
- BSCS/CE or equivalent
- At least five years of professional experience in a large production environment
- Five plus years experience programming with Java and associated technologies
- Mastery of C and data structures required
- Strong C++ programming skills
- Extensive background in TCP/IP networking and Unix based operating systems; x86/Linux experience a strong plus
- Knowledge and expertise in software engineering methodologies and effective unit testing
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with users of the product.
- Proven ability to deliver products with highest quality and on time
- Ability to act as a technical lead, directing small teams of developers as needed
- Ability to collect and document user specifications
- Exceptionally strong written and verbal communications skills
- Fluency in STL, Perl, TCL or Python desired
- Experience with KVM, Hyper-V, Xen, VMware a plus
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Duties are performed in an office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table. This position requires the ability to use a computer keyboard, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material. Duties may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
