Linux Administrator (Eugene Oregon)

Palo Alto Software is looking for a top-notch system administrator to join our product development team at our headquarters in Eugene, Oregon.

To succeed in this role, you will need the ability to provision, manage, and optimize Linux servers to deliver great performance for high-volume Java-based web applications.

The right candidate has deep practical knowledge of best practices in server deployment and optimization; 5+ years of system administration experience, 2+ years serving software product development, preferably including Java-based software-as-a-service applications
* 4-year degree in Computer Science or other related technical field

Qualifications should include the following:

ON CALL RESPONSIBILITY

* Deep practical knowledge of best practices in server deployment and optimization
* 5+ years of system administration experience
* 2+ years serving software product development, preferably including Java-based software-as-a-service applications
* 4-year degree in Computer Science or other related technical field

Skills and experience:

* Provisioning and administrating Apache, Tomcat, and SQL database servers on a Linux platform
* Interacting with virtual servers on a cloud platform like Amazon Web Services
* Scaling applications for effective performance with heavy usage
* Code management in SVN or a similar repository tool (experience with
distributed revision control is a plus)

Experience with virtual machines is required. Exposure to cloud hosting services is a big plus. (We host our software on Amazon EC2.)
