Essential Functions:
-Initiate project efforts, create and manage project plans that address project approaches, milestones, deliverables, change management, resource and budget requirements and implementation schedules
-Create and maintain project sites for project communications and repository for project artifacts such as status reports, schedules, meeting minutes, issue/risk logs, etc
-Responsible for the accuracy and timely processing of issues, escalations and risks, monitoring and following up on their status, and ensuring resolution
-Manages project scope in collaboration with project team and sponsors, business analysts, and technical leads
-Track progress, report status and escalate project critical path risks to management and project stakeholders
-Lead meetings, set agendas, drive decisions, and negotiate win/win solutions
-Manage internal and external communication activities
-Work closely with outside vendors on contracts, procurement, milestones, and project deliverables
-Lead both technical and business initiatives and communicate with all levels of the organization
-Act as backup for other Project Managers
Experience & Qualifications:
-5+ years experience in traditional or Agile (preferred) Project Management with software development or infrastructure or cross functional projects
-Strong understanding of project management fundamentals and best practices and experience with recognized industry techniques for systems development and project management lifecycle methodologies fundamentals and best practices
-Experience with building and motivating project teams
-Excellent written and verbal communications skills
-Ability to manage conflicting interests, identify compromises, and drive towards conflict resolution
-Understanding of systems infrastructure, application development, and associated technologies of a high-availability online environment
-Strong ability to negotiate a matrix organization and establish mutually agreeable solutions
-Attention to detail with strong organizational and problem solving skills
-Business acumen combined with technical background
-Experience with risk management and associated risk models a plus
-Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Visio and MS Project
-Version 1 experience a plus
-Contract negotiation and vendor management experience a plus
-Financial / Brokerage institution systems experience is preferred
-Since this position is targeted at releases, there will be routine releases that will require after business hours releases, so there needs to be the ability to shift and manage hours according to the business needs.
Education and/or Certifications:
-Bachelors degree in Computer Science or combination of education and experience.
-Project Management Institute Certification and/or Scrum Master Certification preferred
