Project Background
We are seeking a technical project manager to lead a project that will result in a process improvement and technology roadmap that will include a timeline for implementation of specific technology solutions that will meet our current and future core business and functional requirements as they relate to all aspects of our supply chain.
Our company, Organically Grown Company (OGC) is an organic produce distributor (primarily fruits and vegetables) that has been in business since 1978. We employ 170 people and primarily serve retail grocery accounts along the I-5 corridor between Bellingham, WA, and Ashland, OR. We are headquartered in Eugene, OR but have a distribution center in Clackamas, OR, and a cross dock facility in Kent, WA. We want to make sure that our core processes and the associated systems will support increasingly customer complex service requirements and enable the company to achieve its strategic objectives that will encompass greater collaboration and tighter integration with both upstream (trucking firms and growers) and downstream (our customers).
Responsibilities
- Define current and future core business processes and requirements spanning entire supply chain.
- Analyze the effectiveness of our current software solutions against our defined current and future core business processes and requirements.
- Evaluation, comparison, and recommendation of our technology options spanning current software, 3rd party software, and building our own software, and their ability to meet our requirements
- Build a roadmap for OGC that incorporates recommended software solution changes over the 3 year horizon.
Qualifications
- Experience working with organizations to define current and future business processes and requirements with an emphasis on driving toward best practices.
- Extensive experience working with enterprise software ranging from ERP, WMS, TMS, supply and demand forecasting, and other associated business intelligence. Experience should include management, architecture, selection and implementation, ideally in the perishable food distribution industry.
- Experience analyzing the effectiveness of software solutions against defined business needs and detailing gaps.
- Experience generating software RFPs and demonstrated ability to successfully manage the vendor selection process
- Proven track record of successful projects (on budget and on time)
- Experience working with small to medium sized businesses (150-250 employees)
- Strong understanding and ability to engage with all pertinent aspects of the business.
- Demonstrated hands on technical/software experience

In this role you are expected to interface with customer understand business process\problems\requirements and prepare business requirements document. This business requirements document will be used by IT teams for developing a technical solution. Please see below for detailed responsibilities;
Identify and analyze internal client and partner business needs.
Translate needs into business requirements and value-added solutions and solution roadmaps.
Develop a comprehensive vision and scope for the solution.
Develop the business case.
Choose appropriate methods for achieving solution value.
Perform requirements elicitation, and write Business Requirement Document.
Identify the solution risk approach, and facilitate stakeholder agreement and solution sign-off.
Risk Management.
Change control management.
Communication and collaboration between various partners.
Development of launch plan.
Required Skills
Extensive T-SQL Query creation and management experience.
Strong SQL Database and ?Cube? SSAS (SQL Server Analysis Services) and dimensional modeling experience so there?s an innate ability to understand the concepts of the data model, cube structure, relationship construction of the DB, etc.
Ability to analyze significant amounts of data to identify anomalies, patterns, issues, etc. and drill down on issues to determine root cause and resolve.
Ability to deal with ambiguity, complex business scenarios, cross-functional and cross-organizational dynamics
Ability to communicate both in business-speak and techie-speak as I would envision this individual driving the JIT reconciliation requirements and development effort as well.
