This is an entry level/Jr. Help Desk position. The ideal candidate will have less than 2 years of experience. Candidates with Technical School experience and or education in computer related skills will be highly considered. Overqualified candidates will not be considered.
Job duties:
Accountable to provide extensive first level technical assistance/phone or email support to all internal employees and venders.
- Resolve various workstation issues, document and assess problem before redirecting to second level support as appropriate to ensure timely resolution.
- Set-up Remote access software on employee home workstations and laptops
- Resolve workstation, network, and user account problems.
Technical Experience:
1. Solid Customer Service
2. Proficient in Windows XP
3. Excellent typing skills
4. Remedy Ticketing System

Position Summary
F5 is seeking a strong Linux Systems administrator to help build and maintain our global IT infrastructure. We are looking for deep system internals knowledge, scripting skills, and a good grasp of supporting applications (mysql, apache, svn, etc.) Supporting knowledge of virtualization technologies, especially VMWare, and F5 BigIP products is a big plus.
Responsibilities
- Operations: Using appropriate tools and utilities monitor the operation of infrastructure components on a regular basis to ensure reliable performance. Identify problems and potential error conditions; escalate to senior engineers for resolution as necessary.
- User Support: Provide tier 2 support to troubleshoot and resolve production system problems. Administer production operations as assigned. Monitor the help desk ticket queues and manage for timely resolution of end user support requests within scope of assignment responsibilities.
- Hardware: Complete ownership of the hardware installation process, from hardware specification and procurement, OS and application installation, networking, and physical installation into the server room, and any hardware upgrades/replacements thereafter Assure new hardware meets the existing hardware standards and best practices appropriate for the application's needs.
- Software Installation and Maintenance: Install operating system and applications for new servers. Responsible for OS and application patching/service packs based on problem analysis and/or vendor notifications. Test and install as approved/directed by senior engineers or management.
- Subject Matter Expert: Follow specified OS and application technologies, ensure solid understanding of emerging technologies and work with IT management to formulate strategies for continuous infrastructure improvement. Mentor and evangelize to IT team mates.
- System Auditing: Regularly audit production systems to ensure compliance with IT installation and security policies/procedures.
? Time Management: Operations is interrupt driven by nature. The SA will need to be able to prioritize their work, juggling daily support responsibilities with project/product driven roles and actions to automate/evolve the environment.
- Technical proficiency: Demonstrated hands-on familiarity with networking and server equipment, infrastructure application (DNS/SMTP/etc.) and IT infrastructure operations. Strong experience with VMWare technologies including ESX, VSphere, and Lab Manager are preferred.
- Problem Analysis and Solving Skills: ability to troubleshoot a complex issue down to potential contributing components, identify root case if possible or gather supporting evidence for escalation.
- Multi-tasking/Prioritization: ability to incorporate daily sustaining roles with progress on strategic improvements, issues, deciding what requires the greatest immediate attention, and coordinating actions to layer focus to achieve the greatest efficiency.
- Trustworthy and Ensuring of Security: the position is trusted with access to critical company data and services in order to support that data/service and its delivery via technology. This trust should not be broken or abused, and includes having the ability to pushback where appropriate to ensure that the security and reliability of the IT environment is maintained.
- Customer Empathy: ability to work with customers or customer representatives such as Customer Service and Product Management to understand requirements and translate them into efficient system designs and operational support structures.
- Scripting and automation experience a plus.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in a computer discipline, or equivalent applicable experience.
- Previous experience in customer support, computer operations, or another related area.
- 2+ years experience working with IT infrastructure and operations.
- Solid written & verbal communications, interpersonal, planning, documentation, organization, and problem solving skills.
- A systematic approach with a high degree of care, accuracy and attention to detail is critical in working with production systems.
- Demonstrated hands-on familiarity with networking and server equipment, operating systems (Windows 2003/XP/etc, Linux), and IT infrastructure operations.
- Ability to work independent of direction from senior personnel or management.
- Good systems and network troubleshooting skills.
- Scripting and automation experience a plus.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Duties are primarily performed in an office environment while sitting at a desk/computer table. Some mobility is required to visit work locations within the same building. Duties require the ability to lift up to 25 pounds, utilize a computer keyboard, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material. Duties may require the ability to travel via automobile or airplane, and may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
